Job quote calculator · built for the trades

Price the job. Print the quote.

Pick your trade and enter the job — crew, hours, drive time, materials. This page builds the price from your cost structure, shows you the margin math on your side of the table, and turns it into a clean quote you can hand to the customer.

The job, in numbers

The calculator

Your trade prefills starting numbers — every one of them is yours to overwrite in the cost structure panel below. Everything recalculates as you type.

Your numbers never leave this page — everything is computed right here in your browser.

The job

Prefills starting numbers and job types. Rates you've already edited stay put.

Sets which equipment rate the job carries — see the cost structure panel.

One line the customer will read under "Scope of work."

People on this job.

All hands combined — a 3-person crew for 2 hours is 6.

One-way drive to the site. Costed for the whole crew at your burdened labor rate.

Materials

Covers pickup time, handling, and fronting the cost of materials.

Price

45%

The gross margin the recommended price is built to hit: total direct cost ÷ (1 − margin).

Type the number you actually plan to charge and the effective margin tracks it.

Your cost structure — starting numbers

These are starting numbers for your trade, not your numbers. Put yours in — the whole page recalculates around them.

Wages plus payroll taxes, workers comp, and unemployment insurance.

Trucks, insurance, phones, software, rent — allocated per labor-hour.

What the equipment costs per hour of labor on mow, cleanup, and mulch jobs.

What the equipment costs per hour of labor on hardscape, planting, drainage, and lighting jobs.

Where the numbers come from

Behind the numbers

Starting numbers, not your numbers

Each trade prefills a plausible cost structure so the page works the moment it loads. They are starting numbers — the calculator only earns its keep once you open the cost structure panel and put your own rates in.

The model underneath

Every price here is built the same way: burdened labor, equipment by job class, overhead per labor-hour, drive time for the whole crew, materials with markup — then a target margin on top of total direct cost. The same model runs the landscaping calculator this one grew out of.

When the price keeps arguing with you

If the recommended price consistently lands far from what your market pays, the calculator isn't wrong — your cost structure is asking questions. That's what the $1,500 diagnostic answers, from your actual invoices, job by job.

This calculator runs on the numbers you enter, right in your browser — nothing is saved and nothing is sent anywhere. Preset rates are starting numbers, not your numbers, and any quote it prints is your document, priced on your say-so. I do job costing and pricing analysis. I am not an accountant, and this is not an audit, a review, or an opinion on your financial statements. If you need those, I'll point you to a CPA.
