Operations help for trades, shops, and other small businesses

I help small businesses understand their numbers and build the tools they need to run better.

What I do

Services

Fixed price, quoted before work begins. The ranges in each description below reflect where most projects land — your number depends on scope, complexity, and what you actually need.

Profitability diagnostics

I look at your pricing, job costing, and margin data to find where money is slipping through. Most small businesses are keeping busy but not getting ahead. This is the work that figures out why.

Most of this work starts with your existing records — invoices, estimates, time logs, or job reports — to build a picture of what different types of work actually cost versus what they bring in. The goal is to find patterns: service lines that consistently compress margin, estimates that run over, or pricing that hasn't kept pace with costs.

What you get: A written report with specific findings — where margin is compressing, by how much, and what to adjust. You also get a revised pricing reference or markup framework to use going forward.

Process: Typically a few weeks, depending on how organized your existing records are and what data is available to work from.

Pricing and quoting tools

A custom calculator or quoting tool built around your actual cost structure — materials, labor, overhead. You quote faster, price better, and stop guessing.

See an example

Before any code gets written, I work through your actual cost structure — labor, materials, overhead, and target margin — so the calculator reflects how your business actually prices work, not a generic formula. The result is a web-based tool your team can use from any device.

What you get: A working, hosted web app — just a link you can bookmark or share with staff. No monthly software fee, no login required to use it.

Process: Depends on the number of service types and how complex the pricing logic is. Most tools take a few weeks from scoping to delivery.

Small-business websites

A clean, mobile-ready website built from scratch. No monthly platform fees, no templates stretched to fit. Built to tell people what you do and how to reach you.

I handle the writing, structure, and technical setup — domain connection, mobile layout, and fast load times. The goal is a site that reads clearly on a phone, loads quickly, and gives visitors what they need: what you do, where you work, and how to reach you.

What you get: A complete, live website — typically a home page, services page, and contact page, plus any additional pages your business needs. You own it outright.

Process: Usually a few weeks, depending on how much content needs to be written and how many rounds of revision are needed.
